By initiating programs that serve children and families in need across New England, it’s the Red Sox’ way of helping the most vulnerable members of the population. So when Volvo was given the opportunity to pitch in with the Foundation’s 2007 World Series Ring Raffle, results were a home run for all involved.
The raffle sold 140,000 tickets to Red Sox fans and raised nearly $1.4 million for the charity, of which all proceeds will go to important programs initiated by the Foundation. Its primary focus is in the areas of health, education, recreation and social service needs. Of course, there was also plenty to celebrate for Linda Brennan, winner of the raffle and now the owner of a Boston Red Sox Special Edition Volvo C30. People love their Volvos, there’s no doubt. But this one was a fan’s dream come true.
After the 2007 World Series, 107 Special Edition C30s were produced to commemorate every Red Sox win of their victorious season. Each was finished in Passion Red, with the team logo on the front fenders, rear hatch and the floor mats and officially authenticated. To honor the Sox’ clincher game of the series, vehicle number 107 was donated to be featured as the raffle’s main prize. You can bet that Linda enjoys every mile, since her C30 sports a look similar to the Volvo C30 R-Design and includes everything from a leather-wrapped steering wheel with aluminum inlays to a dynamic 227 horsepower engine.
“The Red Sox and Red Sox Foundation are deeply grateful to Volvo for being a great teammate and making the Red Sox Second World Series Ring Raffle a great success,” said Meg Vaillancourt, Red Sox Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations and Executive Director of the Red Sox Foundation. At Volvo, we’re proud that we can help bring people together for such a great cause. We’re also dedicated to protecting lives.
